Unizik students shine in Zaria, Kaduna State at 20th National Association of Mathematical Sciences Conference

reports that the students of Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Physical
Sciences have excellently distinguished themselves at the just concluded
National Association of Mathematical Sciences Students of Nigeria (NAMSSN)
Conference held recently at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State.
Receiving the trophy, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof.
Joseph E. Ahaneku, FAS thanked and appreciated them for making the University
proud with their performance. He said that the University is synonymous with
winning. Finally, he urged the students to always uphold the legacies of the
University with their good conduct.
The Head of the Department, Dr. Donald N. Okoli,
thanked the VC for the warm reception and also for creating enabling
environment for both the staff and students in the University.
The Conference which was tagged “ABU Zaria 2018” with
the theme “Building the Bridge to the Success of Mathematical Science Students”
. The students of mathematics won the following laurels;
• 1st
position in 100m Race
• 1st
position in football competition
• 1st
position in 400m Relay Race
• Winner
in the Quiz competition
Furthermore, having beaten other contenders, our
student was elected the National President of NAMSSN while the other emerged
winner of Mr. NAMSSN Pageant. He opined that two of our students were elected
South-East and South-South coordinators respectively.
