Confusion in Anambra Police command over IGP's sack of three cops for raiding Clark’s residence

www.odogwublog.com reports that following the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, sack of the three policemen who raided elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark’s Asokoro, Abuja residence on Tuesday, there was tension in Anambra State as if any of them already engaged in so many impunity and illegality would be reported to the force headquarters.

Some of the policemen in Anambra state act as if there is no tomorrow and sometimes elevate their stupidity beyond imagination but because they kept on going Scott free , the impunity daily graduates but with the recent development in the force, heads may start rolling in Anambra state.

The policemen IGP sacked had searched the Ijaw leader’s residence for arms and ammunition following a tip from one Ismail Yakubu, who claimed to have received the information from an unidentified taxi driver.
The Force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, explained that Insprs. Godwin Musa, Sada Abubakar and Yabo Paul were dismissed for   “the unauthorized, illegal and unprofessional misconduct in the search of the residence of Chief Edwin Clark in Asokoro, Abuja.”

The trio, according to him, were tried under oath in orderly room trial for illegal duty, disobedience to lawful order and misconduct “contrary to the rule of law.”

Moshood stated that ASP David Dominic who led the operation had been queried and was being investigated for discreditable conduct, negligence of duty and act unbecoming of a police officer.

He hinted that the case against the ASP was serious, hinting that he too may be dismissed.

“The IGP has approved the dismissal from the service of the Nigeria Police Force, three Inspectors namely, Godwin Musa, Sada Abubakar and Yabo Paul, and the immediate interdiction of ASP David Dominic who were involved in the unauthorized, illegal and unprofessional misconduct in the search of the residence of Chief Edwin Clark in Asokoro, Abuja on 4th September, 2018,” he stated.

“Consequently, the IGP approved that AP. No 158460 ASP David Dominic, be on interdiction from service pending the determination of his case by the Police Service Commission,” the spokesman added.

The force further pointed out that the informant, Yakubu from Waru Village, Apo District, Abuja, had been charged before Upper Area Court, Mpape, Abuja, for giving false information and “telling falsehood that misled police action.”
But lawyer to Clark, Dr. Kayode Ajulo is insisting on a thorough investigation of the incident, stressing that the policemen could not have carried out the search of his client’s house without authorisation.

He warned that the indicted cops should not be made the scapegoat, noting that only a thorough probe would satisfy his client.
