www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State this morning sacked
his preferred successor, Chief Uche Nwosu and 12 others following their intent to
seek elective positions ahead of the 2019 elections.
Okorocha made
the disclosure in a statement signed by his spokesman, Sam Onwuemodo in Owerri,
the Imo State capital.
Those listed include the erstwhile Secretary to the
State Government, Chief George Eche who reportedly picked nomination form to
contest as Governor.
Okorocha's son in-law who served as the Chief of
Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu who has the endorsement of the Governor is contesting
to succeed his boss.
Others include: the Governor's Principal Secretary,
Dr. Paschal Chigozie Obi seeking to represent Ideato Federal constituency;
The Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations),
Chief Kingsley Uju; the Commissioner for Trade & Investment/Commerce, Chief Emma Ojinere
seeking to represent Owerri senatorial zone; Commissioner for Tertiary
Education, Commissioner for Tertiary Education; and the Commissioner for
Gender/Social Development, Barrister Ngozi Njoku.
Others are: the Commissioner for Information, Prof.
Nnamdi Obiareri; the Commissioner for Market Development, Mrs Joy Mbawuike who
is contesting for Isiala Mbano state constituency; the Commissioner for
Finance, Hon. Obinna Mbata.
Also affected were the Special Adviser on Urban
Renewal, Barrister Simeon Iwunze contesting for Isiala Mbano/ Ehime Mbano
federal constituency; the Special Assistant on General Duties; Barr. Obinna
Amagwula; and the Special Assistant on Finance, Pst. (Mrs) Betty Uzoma.
All the aspirants have already picked nomination forms
from the All Progressive Congress (APC), while some have set up campaign
offices.
The Governor wished them well in their aspirations.
