Tension in Awkuzu as FSARS clash with Villagers, Two killed, Obiano’s aide join protesters (Upgraded)

www.odogwublog.com roving reporter Joseph Egbeocha reports that two persons were feared killed allegedly by operatives of the reformed Federal SARS at Awkuzu community Anambra state.

Information available showed that a young man who was riding a motorcycle in the night was evading arrest when he was hit by the police and he lost control and died while another was gunned down during the protest for the one killed earlier at Nteje police station.

Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Uchenna Okafor was among the protesters.

Human and vehicular movements suffered setback, but the police were quick to mobilise and open Awkuzu part of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.

Efforts to speak to the DPO was unsuccessful while the police command in Awka has not responded to enquires ………………….

Two persons were yesterday allegedly killed at Nteje, Oyi local government Area, Anambra state following a clash between the Nigerian police and villagers. Scores were also injured in the clash.

A cyclist Miracle was knocked down allegedly by a police van in the attempt to evade arrest while driving late hour. He later died at the spot.

Nteje youths mobilized and attacked Nteje Police Station wielding some dangerous weapons, including clubs, accusing the police of the death of their kinsmen.

The protest disrupted human and vehicular movements for over three hours along the Onitsha-Express way.

And during the protest and attack at the police station, another youth was said to have been hit by police bullet and he died too.

A witness said: “Following the dangerous situation facing the personnel, police reinforcement arrived from the neighbouring  Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad at Awkuzu for a rescue mission at Nteje.

“The clashes at different points led to the death of two persons, some got injured, while many were injured.

“A young man who was riding a motorcycle in the night was evading arrest when he was hit by the police, he lost control and died on the spot, while another was gunned down during the protest”.

 The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident, saying the police has put the situation under control.

Mohammed however, explained that the FSARS at Awkuzu was not involved in the melee, as he reminded that there is state law prohibiting riding of motorcycles as from 7pm in the state.

”So the young man on sighting policemen in the night, and in the process to escape arrest he rammed into an on-coming vehicle and got wounded’’.
