Nkerehi/ Umuchukwu Community born Medical doctor Godwin Maduka donates Court complex to Anambra government

www.odogwublog.com reports that an America-based Medical Director of Las Vegas Pain Institute& Medical Centre, Dr. Godwin Maduka yesterday donated a judicial complex with judges’ quarter worth over N250 million to Anambra state government for promotion of justice and fair hearing.

The court complex, built over three years ago had however not been in use due to petitions from some aggrieved members of the community.

Speaking to journalists during the commissioning of the complex in Nkerehi now Umuchukwu Community, Orumba South local district of the state, Maduka decried the scarcity of judges and series of petitions which had hindered the take-off of judicial activities in the complex.

According to him, “I did not build the court for it not to be in use but in Nigeria there are some things that make people’s effort not to be fulfilled.

“Now that the court is open and gazetted, I believe that judges will be sent there for judicial activities, it is now a judiciary complex.”

The state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, lauded the philanthropist for his contribution to the development of the state, adding that the gesture was in line with his think home philosophy, and called on the people of the state anywhere in the world to take a cue and invest at home.

Obiano, represented by the state Head of Service, Mr. Harry Udu further said, “It is a wonderful thing and it is marvelous in our eyes, this is one of the best High Court edifices I have seen in Nigeria, I am speaking as a lawyer of many years.

“It is beautiful that it is happening in our state, we thank Dr. Maduka immensely, he is a philanthropist per excellence, this is just one of the many things he has done for his community and for Anambra state.”

In her remarks, the wife of late Biafran warlord, Chukwemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, commended Maduka for imparting on the lives of the people in many positive ways.

Ojukwu said that if other Igbos in Diaspora could bring part of their wealth home as Maduka had done, the high rate of poverty and dearth of employment in the state would have been a thing of the past.

Bianca noted that such people were scarce in the society and should be appreciated for their gesture.

Also speaking, a member of Board of Trustee of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka urged the state government and judiciary to urgently put the complex to use.

“My appeal is that this effort should be encouraged, he has spent fortune to build this complex and since 2015 it has not been put to use.

“I call on the state government and the state judiciary to identify and support this great man so that others can have the mind to follow suit.

“This is what I believe in and that is why I have the biggest stadium in this state which can host any competition since 1987,” he said.
