APC drags Obiano to court over N9 Million poster levy --as Engineer Nwibe gives reasons to unseat Obiano
www.odogwublog.com reports that the
All Progressives Congress (APC) has dragged the ruling All Progressives
Grand Alliance (APGA) led by Governor Willie Obiano to court over N1
Million levies on Billboard for campaign and N9 Million for pasting of
campaign posters.
He said himself and the party
are in court to challenge the imposing of levies on Billboards and
posters , wondering if that was done during Obiano’s regime if he have
had the resources to campaign. He insisted it was muzzling of democracy
in disguise.
Engineer Bart Nwibe, All
Progressives Congress (APC), Governorship Aspirant for Anambra
Governorship election billed for November 2017 disclosed this during the
Correspondents’ Chapel Forum of the Anambra Council of the Nigeria
Union of Journalists, (NUJ) in Awka.
Nwibe
said Governor Willie Obiano’s poor leadership in the state made him to
declare interest in order to correct his mistakes in office.
Nwibe further pointed out that he is being goaded into the race by the
unimpressive performances of the governor, saying, the State is in dire
need of a performer to take it to the next level.
His
words: "If Obiano is doing well, people like us would not have aspired
for the governorship seat come November 2017, because it is more
difficult to unseat an incumbent.'
According
to him, the quality of work done by an incumbent would speak for him
and do the campaign for him, but faulted the present administration of
playing to the gallery with non-existent projects.
In
particular, he expressed worry that the $2 billion dollars Umueri
International Cargo Airport Project flagged off on April 11, 2017
awarded to an alleged ghost Chinese firm which according to him was
declared bankrupt four years ago.
The
airport project is a tripartite venture in which the Chinese firm
Elite International Investments Limited (Sinoking Enterprises Limited)
will invest 75 % Equity Stake, while Orient Petroleum Resources and
State Government shares 20% and 5% respectively.
Enginer
Nwibe who contested the House of Representatives seat for Aguata
Federal Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance
(APGA) noted that Anambra State which witnessed passionate development
of the State under the Dr. Chris Ngige and Chief Peter Obi
administrations, is struggling hard to meet his predecessors' high level
marks.
He stated that
apart from security of lives and properties where the current
administration improved on the gains of his predecessors (Ngige and
Obi), the present government, he contended, lacks the vision to turn
around the State for the better, and promised a transparent, purposeful
and accountable leadership.
Engineer
Nwibe who is believed to be the political son of the Minister for
Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, accused the incumbent governor
of the State abandoning his campaign promises, in addition to projects
he inherited in the spirit of 'Continuity Agenda.
In
addition to lack of continuity in most inherited projects,, he accused
the Obiano administration of being characterized by lack of transparency
and accountability in fiscal management, frivolous expenditure of State
resources, lopsided and sectional infrastructural development and
one-sided political appointments.
Engineer
Nwibe who hails from Igboukwu in Aguata Local Govermnment Area of the
State and worked for reputable companies including Shell Petroleum
Development Company and Schlumberger promised to invest meaningfully
into Orient Petroleum Resources Plc to make Anambra an oil producing
State.
He said it
would amount to political suicide for the party to give its ticket to
those who had no kindred interest in the party.
Nwibe
described those who were flocking APC in the state for the sole purpose
of using the platform to contest the November election as ‘food is
ready politicians’.
He added that such people
had no party ideology, but were propelled by selfish interest of joining
any political party that could be seen as a vehicle to power.
He
said “there are two groups of aspirants on the platform of the party
for the governorship election in the state. Those who believe strongly
in the change mantra of the APC and those who came in after the party
had won power at the centre because they believe they can win power
using the platform of the party.
“For
me, we have no other party than the APC, and whether the party wins or
loses, we will remain in the party. We have been in the opposition for
15 years, but for the other group, we are not even sure they will remain
in our party if they win power,” he said.
