Unbelievable! Anambra feeds 110,000 pupils ,begins implementation of Home Grown School Feeding Programme

Can this be true? Are you around these schools? Is this everyday thing or run off and never? Federal Government, or Anambra state government? Who is footing the bills? But it sounds strange that pupils would be fed daily? Sounds like magic for a show and that’s all. But read:
One hundred and ten thousand pupils in primary one to three in public schools across the state are benefiting from the Home Grown School Feeding Programme which has kicked off in the state.
Anambra is the first state in the country to commence the implementation of the social investment programme initiated by the Federal Government.
The programme, being implemented in one thousand and fifty public primary schools across the state, provides the pupils with one uniform meal every school day.
Speaking after monitoring the implementation in some schools, including Igwebike Primary School, Abagana, Uruekwo primary school, Enugwu-Ukwu and Igwebueze Primary School, Ifite-Awka, the Chairman, Anambra Sate Universal Basic Education Board, Chief Nzemeka Olisa, said the programme will help improve nutrition of children and attract more pupils back to public primary schools.
Chief Olisa assured that necessary measures would be put in place to sustain effective monitoring of the programme in all schools and expressed the hope that the Federal government would sustain the programme.    
The Operational Manager, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Mr, Dotun Adebayo, who was part of the Monitoring Team, said the programme would serve as safety net for the poor and disclosed that capacity building workshop for the implementation of the programme has been carried out in fifteen states of the country.
Mr Adebayo noted that active community participation would ensure, sustainability of the programme.      
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Donor Agencies and Deputy Vocal Person for Social Investment, Miss Chinwe Iwuchukwu, said, already, one thousand and nine women have been recruited to cook for schools within their community, noting that while the Federal Government is funding the programme, the state government is providing the operational cost and other logistics.
Some of the pupils Olueze Nwafor, Kaosiso Ikpenyi and Adaugo Oguchi expressed delight for the meal.
