A former executive member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Anambra state, Chief Sylvester Okafor has once again warned the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano against wasting the meager resources of the state on useless propaganda.
Chief Okafor who was reacting to the planned ceremony and inauguration of the Elders Council being put together by the state government told journalists that such celebrations are nothing but mere waste of resources.
The PDP stalwart argued that the Elders council in the state had always been in existence even before the administration of the day came on board and wondered why it is only Chief Obiano who is planning to embark on wasteful celebrations for the council. He stated that Elders council had always been a congregation of patriotic Anambrarians who did not need government's flattering and feasting to be able to impact their experience and advice.
He stated that the people of Anambra state are anxiously waiting for the governor to focus on projects that would positively impact them and are indeed tired of hearing of his super performance on radio and television stations without anything tangible on ground to justify such useless claims.
"The public primary and secondary schools in Anambra state are crippled because Obiano has stopped giving them the grants his predecessors were giving the schools, amenities in the rural areas have become non-existent as he has stifled the local governments and courtesy of Obiano's failure to conduct local government elections” Chief Okafor explained.
He noted that the twenty million Naira, Chief Obiano is making available to each of the one hundred and seventy seven communities in Anambra state is very deceitful, deceptive and criminal as the total amount of money he gives to the communities for development represents an insignificant percentage of the local government allocation that has accrued to the twenty one council areas in the past two years.
"I want Governor Obiano to know that he is only deceiving himself by thinking that he can play on the intelligence of Anambrarians by giving out a token to communities’ leaders out of the huge local government allocations he sits on thereby creating unnecessary enmity between some royal fathers and the president generals of some communities with his Greek gift."
Chief Okafor stated that the government of Chief WillieObiano shall at the appropriate time be made to account for the local government funds he has been spending as his private resources.
