South-East governors are cowards - Ohanaeze

www.odogwublog.com reports that Ohanaeze Youths Council ( OYC) has lashed out on South East Governors, accusing them of cowardice and docility over the Igbo cause.

OYC expressed disappointment over the levity of the governors in championing the cause of Ndigbo.

The National President of OYC, Okechukwu Isiguzoro in an exclusive interview in Umuahia with www.odogwublog.com,  sai
d that the present crop of governors from the zone "have failed Ndigbo."

He further berated the governors for lack of unity among them, saying that their inability to speak with one voice is the major cause of the backwardness currently witnessed in the zone.

According to him, the Federal Government has capitalised on the lack of unity among South East governors to scheme out the  zone from national politics, a development he lamented had put Ndigbo backwards.

" Ndigbo are missing out in Nigeria's power equation and national politics today because our governors are not united. They are busy pursuing their own selfish interests without any concern over the collective Igbo interest", he boiled.

He also accused the governors of looting their state funds, saying that Igbo youths have placed surveillance on them to monitor their secret investments.

Isiguzoro wondered why the governors have failed to have a functional South East Governors' Forum close to two years they came into power.

" Are they afraid of their counterparts from the North or the presidency? Or is their problem incompetence?

" Why are they not having the courage to speak up?" OYC wondered.

Isiguzoro regretted that after ex- governors Peter Obi , and Theodore Orji left office as Chairmen of South East Governors' Forum, nothing is heard of the forum anymore.

He wondered if the current governors in the zone have the collective interest of Ndigbo at heart as they have continued to maintain sealed lips over serious issues affecting the zone.

He  expressed disappointment at the docility of the governors over the continued killing of Igbos in the North by Muslim fundamentalists as well as invasion of some South Eastern communities by herdsmen.

Isiguzoro also flayed the governors  for not engaging the Kano State Government over the recent discharge and acquittal of the suspected killers of Madam Bridget Agbahime, an  Igbo trader killed by a mob in Kano over alleged blasphemy.

" If they continue to keep quiet and another Igbo is killed again , the governors should be held responsible", Isiguzoro said.

He cautioned  the governors to sit up or resign their positions for more competent persons if they are not ready to champion the cause of Ndigbo.

Isiguzoro further  warned that the governors risk the wrath of Igbo youths if they should continue to remain complacent over the affairs of Ndigbo, wondering why "anybody should be in power when he is not ready to defend his people".
