CHELSEA SET TO LET MIKEL GO

Super-Eagles captain John Mikel Obi could definitely be on his way out of the London club after a decade of service. The standard of Uk revealed that Mikel's contract expires in the summer and the London club are unwilling to offer him contract extension. The 29-year old midfielder who joined from Lyn Oslo in 2006, has not been selected for action since the inception of the ongoing season. He was only able to work with new coach Antonio Conte for only one week during pre-season, because he was with the Bronze-winning Nigerian team at the Rio-Olympics. Since returning to the club in late August, the holding midfielder has seen himself fallen behind Nemanja Matic, new signing Ngolo Kante, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Reuben Loftus Cheek in the pecking order, and consequently has failed to make a single appearance for the club this term. Mikel has been given permission to hold discussion with other clubs in order for him to sort out his next destination as his departure has been all but confirmed.
