Nnamdi Kanu: Ebonyi Lawmaker Demands His Release

A Member of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon. Maria Ude Nwachi has asked questions concerning the long incarceration of the Leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Mr Nnamdi Kanu.

She said this through her post on a facebook group Igboist while asking questions on why Nnamdi Kanu is still been incarcerated despite been granted bail by a court of competent jurisdiction. She therefore asked Igbo leaders to act now and make sure Nnamdi Kanu is released through any means necessary.

He noted that continued lock up of Nnamdi Kanu is a big slap to the entire Igbo Nation for an Igbo man to be locked  up and no Igbo leader is doing anything serious for his release.

She however admonished the Federal Government led by President Muhamadu Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu on bail and its the best thing to be done while also urging the Igbo powerful leader to demand for his release.

Below is the except of her post.

Why is Nnamdi Kanu still locked up?
It is unfortunate that Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention and the Igbo nation is doing nothing about it. This is a big slap to us all. And note, this is not just about Nnamdi Kanu, this is about the fact that any Igbo can be locked up by FG and nothing can be done about it. I cannot imagine this happening to someone from another ethnic group. Where are the powerful Igbo leaders to please ask why and act on it. If you fail to act, it could be you or any of us tomorrow.

Update: FG quashed the previous charges against him and consequently he was discharged. Following that his Lawyer went to Court for procure his release. The Court granted his prayer that he should be released since he has no more charges pending before him. FG however filed fresh charges against him the next day and since then all his bail applications have been turned town.

I am overly pro-Igboland. I started Biafra awareness and Igbo consciousness in FB Nigeria in 2009, as Nigerians were just discovering FB. Years ago, I was in Igboville the first day Nnamdi Kanu showed up in Facebook through Igboville group. We hit it off from there as I loved his passion for Igboland. I promoted NK and Radio Biafra passionately and endless using my many FB platforms and paying heavily to boost any post on him and his media outfits.

I am the person that told him to use his current name NNAMDI KANU, as it was much simpler and more Igbotic, he became Nnamdi Kanu the same day I made the suggestion. I am the one that gave him his major promos when he just started Radio Biafra; years ago. This man is highly highly brilliant. A powerful orator, a radio god, if he were in the USA, where they appreciate talk radio, where his Disc Jokey radio talent would be invaluable, he would be one of the highest paid entertainers on earth, that is how good he is. He is damn good. An orator like Nnamdi is born once in generations, such person is not easily replaced, because radio oratory talent is rare to come by.

I was never comfortable with the excessive verbal abusive and insult angle and made it known to him. At a point; the verbal abuses his followers where applying on fellow Igbos or anyone that disagrees with their style was just too much for me to bear, no matter how tiny the disagreement, they will call you names that I cannot even say here please, unprintable names. And the verbal abuses had no limit, I sort of withdrew to myself and just looked on.
The point is this; you do not have to agree with him or the ways of some Radio Biafrans to support his release.

NK's continuous detention is is slap to the Igbo nation. Normally when people are arrested for one agitation or another, they are released later with some kind of condition, why is NK's own different. And to any Igbo who does not like the style of Radio Biafra and feels NK deserves to be there, remember he is your blood, and remember whatever he is passing through will also happen to you if you find yourself in such a situation. His continuous detention is a mockery on us all.

To Mr. President, please, let Nnamdi Kanu be released on bail. That is just what is fair to do sir.

To Igbo leaders in authority/government, please, look into this; do all you can to see that this young man regains his freedom. Use diplomacy and whatever you can think of to make this a reality. Do this for Igbo nation, please.

To Nnamdi, nwannem nwoke, please stay strong. You are going to be alright, sir.

Sincerely yours,
Maria Ude Nwachi (Afikpo Chic).
