NDE to empower 500 unemployed youths


The National Directorate of Employment, NDE has said 500 unemployed youths are undergoing skills acquisition training in its centers in Adamawa is near completion of their training.
It said the youths who are near completion of the training are to be empowered to establish their own businesses that will absorb other un-employed youths.
The NDE state coordinator for Adamawa Mallam Isma’ala Yar’ Adua, disclosed this, at a workshop for procurement officers of the NDE, on Thursday, in Yola.
Yar’Adua said the NDE in Adamawa state has over the years charted the course of job creation through training and re-training of various categories of unemployed and vulnerable persons.
He disclosed that the directorate is in the process of empowering 500 unemployed youths in addition to 50 graduates who recently completed its National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (NOAS).
“Only recently the directorate has provided resettlement items to 50 graduates of the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (NOAS). I am also glad to inform you that currently three hundred and sixty (360) un-employed youth are undergoing skills training in seven different skills at the three NDE skills acquisition training centres located at Yola South, Mayo-Belwa and Michika local government areas.
