Traders at Ogidi market ignore Obiano , splash N3million on members who were fire victims

www.odogwublog.com reports that after waiting for compensation from Governor Willie Obiano for 4 months without seeing, the leadership of Building Material International Market Association, Ogidi  near Onitsha in Anambra State rose to the challenge of its members suffering from fire out break which consumed their shops last May 30th 2016.

The traders splashed N3m on 32 traders in C line in the market lost their goods having promised to give succor to the victims and therefore had made an appeal to the traders to donate generously  so that they can use the money to  help them.

The traders contributed one million naira (N1m)  in donation, while the leadership added two million naira, bringing the total amount shared by 32 victims to N3m.

The President General of the market, Sir Christain Okafor, while giving out the money, lambasted those in opposition who have engaged in gossiping with the leadership of the market, alluding that the market  leadership might have embezzled the money and therefore would not fulfill the promise.
Sir Okafor said that they were still expecting donation from the Anambra State Government, Oyi Local Government Area and he umbrella market body in the state, AMATAS, which have promised them reliefs and they had equally written them appealing for succour on behalf of the victims.
The President-General noted that this was the first time in the state and anywhere in Nigeria, market leadership will give cash donations to fire victims, urging government  and other market leaderships to emulate them.

Speaking on behalf of the victims, Chinekwu Obi, who is a beneficiary commended the leadership and those who fulfilled their pledges to make this possible.
Asking God to replenish their purse, he also prayed that God will use the money to prosper them again so that they can help others next time.

The occasion was witnessed by the Chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) Chief C. N. Udeagwu, the Vice Preisdent,Chief Uzoma Onyemachi, the Secretary,Roncine Chinwuko, the Tresurer,Jude Nwankwo, Financial Secretary,Chiedu Ekwuga, Chairman Of C line,Augustine Ibe amongst others.
