ONDO GUBER POLL:THE "DRUNKARDS" ARE AT IT AGAIN!! "

The political "drunkards" are at it again in ondo state. The power drunks, the electoral thieves, the political thugs and "agberos", they are all at it again in ondo state. With barely three months to the gubernatorial elections scheduled by INEC for the 26th of November, 2016, these political thieves and thugs are yet at it again. They are fast turning a relatively peaceful state in Ondo into a Rivers state-like city of conundrum and brouhaha and they won't stop at anywhere till they accomplish their mission of overturning this cool state in Nigerian "Syria"! And the worst news is-they are variably and invariably getting blasphemous assistance and back up from people at the top, people who are supposed to be our role models, people who are supposed to to leave their footprints for us to follow - beautiful footprints that should stand the test of time -, people who are to be the shining light for the new generation, our supposed "leaders", but to the disappointment of all and sundry, they are the evil power brokers bent on rendering each and every state in this country totally useless and if great heed and care is not taken, they will ultimately achieve their objectives unless good-intent Nigerians do something to stop this, and stop this fast.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko was sworn into office on May 19th,2019 after the Federal high Court sitting in Akure annuled the second term election into office of the erstwhile governor, olusegun agagu of blessed memory. The people of ondo state went agog on the announcement of this, the people went into celebration mode, their "messiah" had just been announced as their leader. Good and beautiful tidings they believed has come with this. On the day of his swearing in, some people had to boycott work for that day in order not to miss out on anything as events unfolded. It was like the dawn of a new day. The gods they believed they believed have descended in the form of man to deliver them from the shackles of suffering, bandage and low life they prevalently experienced under the government of Olusegun Agagu, the gods this time is in the person of the people's choice, Olusegun Mimiko. But huge expectations they say, preceeds dissappointment. But fast forward to eight(8) years, whether this supposed adage applies to their own case remains to be seen. Whether Mimiko lived up to expectations or was an epitome of dissappointment, this is for the people of ondo state to judge. I believe they are the ones in the best position to place judgement on his tenure as governor irrespective of what my thought are towards are. They(the people of ondo state) are the ones that experienced his government first hand. So let me leave this aspect of the piece to them.

Just like a blazing dynamo the eight-year tenure of Gov Mimiko is almost over and the time for a new election is here. Yet again the typical hullabaloo, brouhaha and jingoism that have always characterised election in this country right from independence has showed forth it's ugly head again and this time it is showing forth in ONDO state. Sometime around 2009,Ondo state was adjudged the most peaceful state in the whole of Nigeria and truthfully so. Ondo state has always been a state where political unrest is not a quality of theirs but with the events unfolding lately in the political sphere of the state, things have not remained the same. A once peaceful state is now through a political turmoil which if not urgently taken care of might make the state fall into a political hell fire like the currently obtainable in Rivers state, but I say God forbid! Just like the kind of stupid and archaic story they made us become used to, ondo state is just about to be governed by a person supposedly imposed on them by these same evil power "drunkards". We are all aware of the reports that both PDP and APC have concluded plans of imposing their own "person" on the people of ondo state. Gov. Mimiko has reportedly chosen Mr Eyitayo Jegede as the flagbearer of the people's democratic party for the November 26 elections even before PDP officially conduct her primary election. What a country! In the same vein, APC has according to reports, penned down Mr Segun Abraham as their flagbearer by the ultimate himself, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, though the APC chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has come out to rebuff this rumor and also went on to assure Nigerians of a democratic process in choosing the party's flagbearer but in spite of this, doubts still remain in the heart of the people.

These power and political "drunkards" should leave the people of ondo state choose their own leader and these electioneering illegal activities should stop for peace, harmony and tranquility to reign in ondo state. Afterall democracy they say, is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.
