Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state yesterday was speechless over the possible reasons for the shift of the Anambra central re-run indefinitely and the clearance of PDP and APC to participate in the election.
Efforts to get more information was not possible as several calls to the cell phone of the SSA Media James Eze was never picked in several occasions neither has he ever returned calls yet he is the media man to the Governor.
Our informant could not clarify much questions thrown at her but insists Governor was livid over the shift.
But before the announcement of the postponement of Anambra central Re-Run election yesterday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra state, a group known as Anambra central People’s coalition, had staged a heavy protest in Awka, the state capital.
The protesters marched round the streets of the capital city with placards with different inscription.
Also, in their protest letter to the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the protesters accused the commission of giving undue advantage to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.
The petition which was made available to reporters was signed by Madam Rosemary Okeke, coordinator, Anambra central women organization, Elder Emeka Anazulike, coordinator Elders Forum, Engr. Charles Analokwu, Coordinator Anambra central professionals.
Others were, Paul Okafor for students coalition, Chief Mrs. Chinwe Ndife, Coordinator, Umuada Anambra central forum and Chief Kenneth Odogwu, Coordinator, Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Anambra central zone.
The group said it was not the first time INEC postponed elections of such nature, adding that it had happened in Rivers, Gombe, Imo states while heaven did not fall.
According to the group, “it will give equal opportunity to other parties court asked’ INEC to include in the re-run to prepare for the election”
“We are calling on you to use your position to call on the INEC REC Anambra state to call off the re-run election, pending when the legal suites in various courts in the country are determined”.
