Speed Limiting Devices have been described as a very important tools for ensuring safety on Nigerian roads.
This was the collective view of the Commissioner for Transport, Engineer Romanus Ejikeme, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Sunday Ajayi and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Office of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Uche Nworah, when Tzones Communications Limited, paid them courtesy visits in their offices in Awka.
Tzones is one of the sixteen companies approved by the FRSC to oversee the installation of speed limiting devices in private and commercial buses and trucks throughout the federation.
Receiving the group, the Commissioner for Transport, Engineer Ejikeme, said the speed limiter is one of the good innovations that would help monitor the speed of motorists in the state.
Commissioner Ejikeme while commending them for the good work they are doing, urged Tzone to synergize with the other licensed companies in the state to move the transport sector forward.
On his part, the state sector Commander, FRSC, Mr. Ajayi, noted that it is the statutory responsibility of the corps as a leading agency in road safety, to ensure that roads are safe for commuters and to synergize with stakeholders towards the standardization of devices to be used for the purpose.
Describing Tzone communications as one of the authorized contracting firms where people can go and get the device installed in their vehicles, he urged them to contribute their quota towards the development of the state, especially the transport sector.
Mr. Ajayi disclosed that the issue of speed limiting devices came up as a result of the increase in auto crashes and the resultant carnage which affects families and the GDP of the country.
Also in a remark, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Mr. Uche Nworah, while receiving the group in his office, said ABS has been in the fore front championing safety on the roads through partnership with the FRSC, in its educative sensitization campaigns in the state.
In a response, the Managing Director of Tzone Communications Limited, Mr. Ifechukwu Mbanefo, reiterated his commitment to working with the FRSC, the Media and other stakeholders in achieving their ultimate goal of zero crashes on the highways.
