A new security strategy known as " visibility policing "is to be initiated in all the states in the country including the Federal Capital Territory. This is to ensure the presence of officers and men of the police at strategic locations across the country.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of zone Nine, Umuahia, Usman Gwary, announced this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano at the governor's lodge Amawbia.
Mr. Gwary, who said he was on an inspection tour of commands under the zone, explained that part of his visit to the state was to sensitize officers and men of the police in the area on the need to shun
corruption and be civil in their affairs.
The AIG noted that modalities had been worked out to beef up security in the country through robust and enhanced patrol, continuous raid of criminal hideouts and intelligence gathering.
Mr. Gwary while stating that Anambra State was at the fore front of the visibility policing initiative said that the police intended to replicate same in the remaining states in the country.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police who acknowledged the partnership between the police and
communities in the state in the maintenance of peace and order, commended the state government for the success recorded in the security sector.
Earlier in a speech, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hassan Karma, noted that the achievements made by the police in the area were not without the support of the state government which provided the platform for all security agencies in the state to work in unison.
Mr Karma commended the Governor for providing the police and other sister agencies with the logistics and incentives to work.
Responding, Governor Willie Obiano ,reassured the police of the continued support of government in securing the lives and property of people in the state
Governor Obiano announced that government in collaboration with the police command in the state would soon embark on training of 300 officers and men of the police on correct professional etiquette in the discharge of their duties.
