Anambra teachers rejoice as Obiano makes case for them

As part of efforts to improve the quality of education in Anambra State, Governor Obiano has reiterated that Primary school teachers will always undergo promotional examinations before being upgraded to another grade level.

He also noted that the welfare of  Primary school teachers is topmost on the agenda of  administration.

The governor made this known while recieving members of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter, who paid him a courtesy call at Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.

 Also at the event, the governor, who was intimated of plans to decorate him as the’ Most Friendly Governor to Primary Education in Nigeria’, an event that will hold on 18th November, 2015 at Osun State; accepted the award in advance and dedicated it to his education team, teachers and students.

During her remarks, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha ,said that the visit was in line with the recently celebrated World Teachers Day, which was held on 5th October.

She also revealed that while five  teachers received awards for outstanding results, Queen of Rosary College was awarded as the overall best in the senior secondary category. She noted  the efforts and encouragement of the state government in prompt payment of salaries.

The chairman of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Mr. Christian Achukwu, noted the efforts of the governor in building modern classroom blocks, promoting of school teachers, provision of operational vehicles and the welfare packages.

He also urged the government to aid in recruiting more teachers and  sponsorship of teachers for educational training outside the country.

Other members of the executives at the courtesy visit include, Mrs Emily Ogbunankwi, Obodoeze Anselem, Chika Ebeogu, Nani Victoria and Chukwuemeka Hyginus Nze.
