Chairman of Anambra East L.G.A, Hillary Udanoh, has enjoined the people of the area to jealously guard government projects located in their various domains as a means of encouraging the Government in her efforts to foster infrastructural development in the State.
Hon. Udanoh made the statement while commissioning water borehole projects jointly funded and built by the European Union(E.U) and UNICEF in collaboration with the state government for various communities in Anambra East such as Obinetiti, Egbeagu, Umuaveili, Umugama, Umuawunu, Iruozobia,Ugume,Umungalagu and Isinyi .
Hon. Udanoh also commissioned an ultra modern toilet built at Ezinando Community Primary School.
The Council Chairman expressed gratitude to Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra state, for attracting donor agencies to Anambra state with the sole objective of developing the state economy in all sectors. He charged the communities to keep the borehole projects and toilet facilities clean,safe and secure so as to serve the purpose for which they were built.
The Coordinator of UNICEF projects in Anambra East L.G.A, Mrs. Amina Ominyi, expressed gratitude to the local government and the benefitting Communities for collaborating with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) arm of UNICEF to ensure that the borehole projects are now in place.
She however, pleaded with the benefiting communities to report any anomaly to the WASH unit of the council for immediate attention, and reminded them that their ability to safeguard the borehole projects will determine the possibility of citing other projects in their Communities.
The chairman WASH-COM Umuanevili Community, Chief Iloerika Chuma,expressed gratitude to the government of Chief Willie Obiano for bringing democracy dividends, especially drinking water which is the most essential necessity of life to their door steps.
