NACAMA vows to clamp down on fake Alternative medicine dealers especially advertisers of such medicine without approval

The National Complementary and Alternative Medicine Association, NACAMA, yesterday frowned at the level of quackery and faking that abound in the state
and vowed to clamp down on those perpetuating the evil in the society reports www.odogwublog.com .

NACAMA accused some members of encouraging and conniving with the quacks spoiling the image of alternative medicine dealers and compromising standards as well as engaging in illegal advertisement of products considered harmful to the public health.

It accused the unauthorized advertisers of being responsible for the spate of death of patients suffering from kidney diseases and consequently vowed to clamp down on such fake practitioners and advertisers.

                                                                                          

 National President of National Complementary and Alternative Medicine Association (NACAMA) ,Prof Emeka Katchy  spoke while celebrating the World Kidney Day in Anambra State.

Prof Katchy who is also Vice Chairman of Nigerian Red Cross Society Anambra state council regretted that the said fake members manufacture concoction and advertize the product to the general public claiming that the product kills all manner of diseases when in reality it  worsens the health condition of such patients because the product has no regulatory directive, no quality and efficacy for disease control and elimination.

                                                                                                                   

His words: "What they want is money and they don't know that what they prepare for the patient's consumption is poison. It has no overdose, not scientifically manufactured because they did not go to the university or any tertiary institution to learn the job",  he disclosed.                                                                                                                                             

According to him this year world kidney day needs everybody's support to spread this message, encourage prevention and bring this issue to the attention of government, policy makers as well as the general public", he pleaded.

                                                                                                                   

Urging the general public to be wary of the fake members he said , "kidney diseases are silent killers which will largely affect your quality of life."                                                                                                                                                     

"If you are a medical or allied health professional you are at the forefront of combating kidney diseases around the world through early detection and prevention approaches", Prof. Katchy added.

                                                                                                                   

The hinted that the body in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health is working towards kidney disease eradication adding that the world kidney celebration brings together millions of people to unite them to produce a powerful voice for kidney healthy awareness.
