Breaking news: Tragedy struck Anambra as 6 hawkers Die in Auto Crash

www.odogwublog.com reports that it was wailing and crying for peasants and artisans hawking for their daily living at building materials Market , Ogidi , Idemmili North local government area yesterday

when no fewer than six (6) persons were feared dead including a young girl in an auto crash that occurred there.

The accident according to eyewitnesses was caused when the propeller of a 40 foot tanker laden with petroleum product allegedly pulled out and the tanker rammed into some commercial buses waiting for passengers along the ever-busy Onitsha/Enugu Express way.

That created panic and tension but after the melee, some vehicles were crushed and some six hawkers were dead, many others were rushed to a nearby Iyi-Enu hospital for medical attention.

The tanker was billed to empty its content in Onitsha but loaded in Enugu but sequel to over speed, the driver could not control the vehicle when his propeller pulled and immediately after the incident the driver disappeared.

The witness who spoke in an unclear native tongue said: "These hawkers that are dead now most of them are suppose to be in the school instead of standing by the road hawking and their parents should be blamed for child abuse. Now they are dead and their parents/guardians must have on hearing of this incident cried for the loss…………’’.

But, www.odogwublog.com reports that the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Hassan Musa said only four people died while confirming the incident.

 "I rushed to that place with my men and we try to evacuate the victims and on the process found out that four of them were hawkers and that they have died".

"we have not seen the driver of the trailer though we know he may have run away for his dear life to avoid being lynched. we are trying to clear the road because the incident has caused a lot of traffic gridlock", he revealed

The DPO who expressed worry that in the recent accident has occurred repeatedly advised motorist to always ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before applying the roads. 

According to the DPO, "the dead bodies have been deposited at the Iyienu Hospital Ogidi including some of the victims who sustained serious injuries"

These is the 10^th time accident is happening in the busy Enugu Onitsha road starting from Upper Iweka down in a similar fashion but most of the accidents were caused by over speeding and other human error.
