Clamp down on all illegal and substandard hospitals in Anambra state begins



Immediate clampdown is on by the Anambra State Government on substandard and illegal hospitals.

This according to www.odogwublog.com is coming as the state government has inaugurated Health Institution Certification Committee that will overlook the activities of the health practitioners in the state, with a view to checkmating sharp practices and standardize the state health institutions.
The committee which has the Director Medical services, Dr. Nath Ojekwu as chairman and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor on General Hospitals, Dr, Sunny Ekwunife as Secretary will as well take a data base of all the public and private hospitals in Anambra state.
The has  NMA State Chairman, Dr Eric Anazodo, Prof Emeka Katchy, Mr. Ikechukwu Kodilinye, SSA, Primary Health Care, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu, SA on General hospitals, CMM Nwamaka Arinze and Dr. Mgbemena Jude as members.

Other members include: Pharmacist Oguekwe J.O, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Okolie, Uju Mbachu, Dr. Okoye Ocha, Dr. Jide Onyekwelu, Anisiobi Linda and NMA PRO, Dr. Edward Ezenwafor.
While inaugurating the committee, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike said the aim of instituting the Committee is to check the excesses of quacks in the State and harmonize health institutions as well as bringing hospitals to standard.
“We want to differentiate between Medical doctors, pharmacists, and a nurse in this State with the aim of giving quality health care to the people. The Committee will also take data base of all the hospitals-Specialist hospitals and clinics because we want standard in all areas of medical profession and that is why we brought all shields of medical opinion to bear in the committee” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Nath Ojekwu thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to serve and pledged on behalf of his members to deliver in the mandate while his secretary, Dr Sunny Ekwunife thanked the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano for his commitment in giving quality health to citizens.
