Dean of School of Information and Technology and Head of Department
of Mass Communication, Mr. Godwin.O Ibe who witnessed the inauguration of the newly
elected heads at the department’s editing laboratory, Wednesday, 10th September
at Federal Polytechnic Oko, charged them with the mandate of ensuring stability
in the department.
Mr. Ibe poured encomiums on
the strides of the out-going Excos especially on the area of enhancing
stability and unity in the department while urging the newly elected to keep
the pace in ensuring and maintaining peace and tranquility in both the
Association and department at large.
He said: “ you should keep the pace, ensuring and
maintaining the peace, oneness and tranquility your predecessors have built and
most imperatively desist from anything
that would endanger the good image and reputation of this noble
department”.
The newly elected President ,Comrade Okafor Chuka.
M, in his remarks urged his fellow Excos to work as a team if they really want
to surmount the achievements of their predecessors.
He said: “let us keep aside whatever selfish interest we
have and concentrate on building legacies and setting paces that we would be
remembered of when we are gone”
He however, pledged his
undaunted commitment towards uplifting the association.
Performing the ceremony earlier , the academic adviser,
Mass Communication Students, Mr Ben Obioha who led the swearing-in and oath
taking segment, enjoined the new officers to strive towards achieving greater
than their predecessors.
Earlier, the President Emeritus Comr. Azudiefe Nonso, who
spoke on-behalf of the Excos thanked the students for their supports all
through their administration and reiterated his commitment towards contributing
significantly to organizational goals each time he is called upon.
He thanked God for His grace
and enjoined the newly elected officers to do better than his ”Asup Strike”
bedeviled tenure.
The high-points of the event
include oath-taking by new excos and prayers among others.
