Chief Ezenagu Bags Chieftancy Title Of Akpokuedike Of Okpuno Community Amidst Pomp And Pageantry

As a result of his ebullient leadership style, 13 villages in Okpuno, Awka-South Local Government Area of Anambra State rolled-out drums in honoyur of Chief Godson Ezenagu , former Commissioner for Agriculture in Anambra state and others during their New Yam Festival celebration held recently by their monarch, HRH Igwe (Engr.) Isaac Okafor.

The well attended event graced by people from all works of lives, within and outside the state, was heralded with cultural displays and conferment of Chieftaincy titles on worthy Igbo leaders of Anambra extractions, among whom was Chief Godson Ezenagu, who was accorded with the title of "Akpokuedike 1 of Okpuno" (He who responds when called upon).

Chief Ezenagu, who hails from Mgbakwu in Awka-North Council Area, was said to have received the accolade in recognition of his humanitarian services to the people, who incidentally, are his In-laws. Little wonder his council, some years back, crowned him "Ochendo Awka-North" (the Protector).

Speaking in the auspicious event, the celebrant, Igwe Issac Okafor (Ogene of Okpuno) averred that the occasion was meant to honour worthy Igbo leaders of excellence, and extolled the relentless efforts of Chief Ezenagu in championing the true course of his In-laws, even as he charged politicians world wide to copy the tempo and sheer politics of selfishness.

On his part, Chief Cosmos Okonkwo, the Chairman of Awka-North Local Government Area, said "the cap fit Ochendo", because according to him, he is a servant leader who loves to touch lives positively and indiscriminately.

In an interview, Wife of the erstwhile Commissioner for Agriculture, Lady Florence Ezenagu described her husband as voice to the voiceless.

Responding, Chief Ezenagu posited that the 'new feather' would spur him to double his efforts towards putting smiles on the faces of the downtrodden.

On whether he would succumb to the calls to represent Awka North and South Constituency in the Federal House of Representative on 2015 general elections, the "Akpokuedike of Okpuno" disclosed that he had no choice in order to augment their myriads of needs.
