Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, an Economist this afternoon addressed
a large audience at the Medgar
Evers College of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, in Booklyn NY
on the mission and vision of the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration as
well as all that which made Anambra an ‘A’ state in Nigeria.
The briefing session was well
attended and it was in the initiative of Medgar Evers College Department
of Public Administration, in collaboration with the MEC Student Government
Association.
Dr Okeke presented views on an array
of issues pertaining to Anambra State, its governance structures, the Obiano
Blueprint, as well as current issues in Nigeria, including the creation of
cultural, economic and educational bridges between Nigeria and the United
States.
He highlighted the accomplishments
of the Obiano Administration in its first 100 days in office and it’s short,
medium and long-term developmental plans for Anambra.
He underlined the four pillars
and enablers currently being implemented in Anambra and noted that security has
been accorded the highest priority as a confidence building measure aimed at
creating an enabling environment for domestic and foreign investors.
He noted that Anambra was one of the
earliest state to proactively undertake containment measures against the spread
of the Ebola Virus Disease, and stated that there has been no case of Ebola in
Anambra State.
The Anambra Deputy Governor received a thunderous applause
from his audience and a thumps up for Anambra state.
