odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that the Anambra State Commissioner for
Economic Planning and Budgeting, Prof. Solomon Chukwulobelu, has said without prompt payment of taxes and levies for a better Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) the state government cannot be empowered to give the citizenry all they demand from the state like
massive social infrastructural development, recruitment, optimum payment of
civil servants salaries among others.
He identified Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as the government enabler to engender quality
socio-economic development in the societies where it governs.
To this end, Prof. Chukwulobelu
enjoined Anambrarians and people living within the state to assist Governor
Willie Obiano on his giant strides to reposition the state by paying their
taxes and levies promptly, noting that this would boost the state economy.
He said the incumbent administration
which marked 100 days last week is ever focused and determined to leave no
stone unturned in ensuring the betterment of it citizenry but it needed a
collaborative effort with the governed in order to make it a reality.
Prof. Chukwulobelu, who bemoaned
that Enugu State still top Anambra in terms of IGR despite that the state is
blessed with huge natural and human resources, markets and industries; appealed
on Nigerians of taxpaying age, captain of industries, companies and others to
pay their taxes for optimum service delivery, noting that federal allocations
accruing to the state was meager to augment her myriads of needs.
He further condemned indiscriminate
dumping of refuse in the state, saying that these could constitute health or
environmental hazards to the perpetrators, even as he advocated for
self-discipline, orientation and behaviorial changes towards making the country
inhabitable for all.
Praising Governor Willie Obiano’s
100 days in office, the Commissioner for Budgeting and Economic Planning,
called on Anambra citizens abroad to invest home as armed-robbery and
kidnapping which often scare them aware from home has finally bowed-out,
courtesy of Obiano’s Operation Kpocapu.
He however, advised hoodlums to turn
a new leaf or face the wrath of law as the government was willing to deliver on
its mandate without compromise.
On achievement of the Ministry
within the hundred days, he disclosed that the ministry had within the first
week of Obiano’s inauguration, worked assiduously to codify the state’s budget
to capture blueprints of the new political dispensation, before it was finally
passed into law and ascended to as well same week; and currently, doubles it
effort in monitoring and evaluation of the budget towards ensuring that it
meet-up with its objectives.
