Odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that Governor
Willie Obiano would soon flag-off distribution of seedlings, tractors among
other farm implements to farmers in the state with a view to empowering them to
key into his administration blueprint on making the state food basket of the
nation.
State Commissioner of Agriculture,
Chief Nnamdi Mekoh, who disclosed this while receiving executive members of
Self Youths Empowerment Organization (SIYEO) who paid him courtesy call today,
added that over 250 youths of the state would start training at different field
of agriculture next week.
According to Mekoh, the Agricultural
skill acquisition training would focus on fish farming, cassava production,
animal production, crops production and processing among others.
He said the training would commence
at Anambra State College of Agriculture, Mgbakwu, next week and successful
trainees are qualified to receive kick-off capitals among other logistics in
accordance to their areas of concentrations.
Chief Mekoh further enjoined
Anambrarians to avail themselves the opportunity as the incumbent
administration was determined to empower his citizenries to be self-sufficient
and employer of labours rather than jobseekers.
Responding, National President of
SIYEO, Prophet Favour Okwudili assured Governor Obiano that the group was ready
to mobilize all people of the state to participate on the initiative.
While the State Chairman of SIYEO,
Chief Ignatus Okeke said the programme if actualized, would assist in total
eradication of poverty, restiveness and begging of alms in Anambra
state.
