FRSC Clubs In Anambra Rose From 752 To 3,014 School Clubs As Crashes Reduced Even As Obiano Constructs Solar Energy Powered Bus-Stops

         

odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that Governor Willie Obiano is constructing a solar energy powered Bus stops across the state and one has been completed at Paul University bus stop among others .

Even the Federal Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra State Command has said that road crashes have reduced to a barest minimum in the state.He added that the Road safety clubs in schools have increased tremendously.

The State Sector Commander, Hyginus Omeje who disclosed this in public lecture recently organized by the agency at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, attributed the successes to removal of what he termed “obstructions and abandoned vehicles at the road side”.

He further explained that the command has embarked on public enlightenment campaign at the nooks and crannies of the state with a view to educating road users, even as he noted that offenders of road traffic laws have decreased as well.

According to Omeje, in-line with this, FRSC clubs in the secondary Schools in Anambra state has increased from 752 in 2012 to 1356 in 2013 and 3014 as at now; while it primary school counterparts which were 120 in 2012, rose to 563 in 2013 and 619 as at now.

The Sector commander while appealing to Anambra state government to assist them with heavy duty tow trucks for decongesting abandoned trucks along Enugu/Onitsha and Onitsha/Owerri expressway, also implored the government to aide in renovating its dilapidated unit command.

Also speaking, Corps Marshal Osita Chidioka, represented by Zonal Commanding Officer, RS5 Benin-City, Mr. Nseobong Akpabio advised motorists and motorcyclists to abide by the traffic rules which he said were geared towards safeguard lives and properties.

On his part, Governor Willie Obiano who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke pledged to donate a pick-up truck to the command; but also directed them to channel other requests in writing for prompt consideration, assuring that the government would continue to partner with them to forestall road accidents.

Similarly, Governor Obiano said he would soon flag-off construction of Solar energy powered Bus-stops at major roads in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi so as to support in realizing this aspirations.
