The
Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor
has applauded the Parish priest, Priest-in-residence, Religious and the entire
parishioners of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Amansea, Awka North Local
Government Area for their residence, dedication free wills donations and for
the development recorded so far in their Parish.
Bishop
Ezeokafor who gave the commendation while carrying out his pastoral functions
expressed satisfaction over the level of infrastructural development in the
Parish noting that priests religious and parishioners of St. Anthony had given
him the cause to rejoice and urge to continue to invest in the house of God.
The
Bishop who was accompanied by his secretary Rev. Fr. Dr. Lawrence Nwankwo;
deputy Diocesan chancellor Rev. Fr. Francis Chidume kick-started the function
with con-celebrated Eucharistic Holy Mass during which he administered the
sacrament of conformation on 102 deserving Catholic Faithful and laid the
Church’s foundation stone which was at the verge of completion.
Earlier
in a sermon, Bishop enjoined Christians the world over as they celebrate the
good shepherd Sunday noting that as a Christian, they are bind to follow the
true shepherd which is Jesus Christ and called on all to respect and pray for
the Church leaders especially the Pope, Bishops, Priests and religious who were
saddled with the onerous task of shepherding the flock and urged them never to
relent.
In
a remark, the parish Priest of St. Anthony Rev. Fr. Sabastine Chukwuemeka Ejie
thanked the Bishop for his visit and assured him of their obedience and also to
ensure that St. Anthony remained one of the leading Parishes in Awka Diocese.
In
their separate speeches, the Igwe of Amansea HRH Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo who was
represented by Ozo Okonkwo and a community leader of the town Chief Mike
Ekwunife (Ikenga Amansea) pray God to give the Bishop long life and more
wisdom.
