Bishop Ezeokafor Inaugurates 30 Man Joint Knights Taskforce Committee

                                              

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor has inaugurated a 30 man joint knights task force committee that will monitor, coordinate and regulate the activities of every member of the knighthood in the Diocese.


The inauguration which started with con-celebrated Eucharistic Holy Mass took place during the “All knights’ celebration” at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral; Awka presided over by the Bishop witnessed large turn out of people at the occasion.

In his homily Bishop Ezeokafor explained that essence of constituting the committee was to enable the Order to live up to the expectations of the Church and to allow them work as a bridge between the Church and the communities in Awka Diocese as well serve as conflicts resolution committee. He maintained that the universal Church have only one head which is the Pope and urged everyone of them to respect the decision of the supreme pontiff nothing that the Church solely reserved the rights of instituting and dissolving any group or association which  its found worthy or wanting.

The Catholic prelate urged the newly constituted committee to go all out for proper re-orientation of members and also to serve as a leading light in their various communities; adding that they are there to make peace and not to destroy.

In their separate speeches, the chaplain of Papal knights Rev. Fr. Vincent Ekezulike; Chaplain of knights of St. John International, Rev. Fr. Barr. Anthony Ezeoke and the chaplain of knights of St. Mulumba, Rev. Fr. Michael Anazie charged the committee to work in accordance with the Catholic teachings and to ensure that every member has a sense of belonging as well lead by example.

Responding the leader of the committee, Major Prof. Pita Ejiofo of the Papal knights and the deputy leader of the committee Brig. General G. N. Muotolu of the knight of St. John International assured the Bishop and the Church of their commitment and promised to work for the good of all.

Meanwhile, Bishop has decried the absence and non membership of the knights at the zonal level of the church noting that zone remained the lowest level of the Christian community after the Parish and urged them to belong in their zones and as well identify with them. He called on every Catholic faithful to go and register in their zone adding that he the Bishop had identified with his community and age grade and urged all to do so.

Bishop Ezeokafor while urging the people to identify with their zones made a passionate appeal for the construction of Pope John Paul Major Seminary, Okpuno Church building noting that rector, priest and seminarians still worship at the Chapel. He called on well to do individuals to come for their rescue.
