The immediate past transition committee chairman,
Njikoka Local Government, Hon. Frank Chuks Opigo Nwankwo has received a Change
Ambassador Award from Youth Ambassadors for Change (YAC) South East Zone.
Receiving the award in his office in Awka, Hon
Nwankwo, who was visibly overwhelmed with the award, commended the YAC members
for being able to track and record most of his achievements in office.
He assured that he would not relent in supporting and
encouraging the youths to enable them to improve their lot, noting that he
understood their predicament being a youth himself.
Hon Nwankwo noted that empowering the youths, bringing
them together and encouraging their efforts would enable them to improve
themselves and urged politicians and well to-do people in communities and those
in leadership position to map out plans geared towards ameliorating the plight
of the youths.
Earlier while presenting the award, the South-East
Co-ordinator of Youth Ambassadors for Change, Comrade Magnus Eziokwu, disclosed
that the award was in appreciation of his numerous achievements and support
towards youth development and provision of democracy dividends to the people.
Comrade Eziokwu disclosed that Hon. Nwankwo was among
the few people selected in Anambra State after the organization carefully
looked at the achievements of some exemplary leaders, philanthropists and
corporate volunteers worthy to be honoured with the International Youth
Ambassador for Change Award.
Also speaking, the South East Organizing Secretary of
YAC, Comrade Abuchi Onwumelu observed that the award recipient made a lot of
people smile during his short tenure as the transition committee chairman of
Njikoka Local Government Area especially the youths.
'He just sponsored the opening and proper furnishing
of a youth secretariat with operational internet facilities at Enugu-Agidi, his
home town, single handedly sponsored the Enugwu-Agidi Youth Activities that
featured several events during the December 2013 festive period, co-sponsored
the All Sports Foundation, Nimo in its state/national competitions, built over
an head tank at Abagana abattoir site as well as controlled the erosion menace
at Akpu village, Abagana, among others,' Onwumelu said.
Comrade Onwumelu disclosed that the organization was
working for the betterment of the rural populace across Africa by promoting
democracy and good governance, youth and women empowerment services through
value re-orientation programmes.
