It was all commendation
for the former Secretary of Anambra Independent Electoral Commission Mr
Benjamin Uzoka, as he left ANSIEC to resume office as Anambra Liaison Officer
in Lagos. Out-going Secretary of Anambra Independent Electoral Commission
(ANSIEC) has been described as a ``technocrat and resourceful personality’’ who
left behind indelible footsteps.
Mr Uzoka, who was recently
appointed a Permanent Secretary by the state government to its Lagos liaison
office, was at a sent-forth organiszed in his honour in Awka on Friday
received several encomiums from the former colleagues..
The Acting Acting
Chairman of commission Mr Nnalue Okonkwo told the Pess shortly
after the event that MrUzoka was a loyal, diligent and astute staff
to both the publics and the commission.
He said``In all his dealings, he was
excellent and committed to uplift the commission, and always ready to work both
night and day. The commission will miss him.
``I lack words to express my
feelings. If I have the chance to reverse the decision, I would have done that,
but since it is a promotion I wish him well in his new place of work..
`
Mrs Ifeoma Onwubugha, the
Commission’s Public Relations Officer said that Uzoka’s promotion was both for
him and the commission.
``It means that the government had
recognized his works in the commission’ I pray that he would take the good
works to the new office and do much better than while with the commission,’’
she said.
Mr Humphery Onwuzulike,
Director, Human Resources of the commission said that the elevation was
expected since it was a system in the civil service.
He advised Mr.Uzoka not drop on the
standard which he was noted while with the commission.
Mr Nnamdi Nkala a junior staff with
the commission said he would miss the humility embedded in Uzoka adding
that he treats people as he would like to be treated.
He described Uzoka as a “boss’ who
does not lord duties on his subjects rather finds a subtle way of making lazy
one to perform.”I will surely miss him’
Mrs Cordelia Ugokwe, Mr Okey Orji in
a separate interviews collaborated the statements of the others and said
that Uzoka remained an embodiments of knowledge and exemplary worker.
Responding, Uzoka told NAN that he
was grateful for the recognition by the state government.
He assured that he would not
disappoint the honour reposed on him by the state government.
``I have not worked outside the
south-east zone, but I want assure that the environment would not pollute me in
the new assignment,’’ he said.
Uzoka appealed to the Anambra
indigenes in Lagos to make good use of the office, pointing out that the office
was in Lagos to assist them. .
Mr Uzoka was in
the Civil Service Commission in 1998, a director of the internal board of
revenue in 2008, director protocol with then governor in 2009 and joined ANSIEC
in September 2010 and was promoted as Permanent Secretary in March 17,
2014. .
