Peter University Gets Boost As Mothering Sunday Kicks With Bishop Ezeokafor Tasking Mothers on Family Building

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor has tasked mothers all of over the world to use the period of Mothering Sunday Celebration to re-examine and re-dedicate themselves to that which will promote the sanctity of the family and society at large.

Bishop Ezeokafor who gave the exhortation at St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral, Awka while receiving the Awka diocesan Catholic Women’s Organization (CWO) who paid him a courtesy visit, said that the role of the mothers in the family would not be over-emphasized and charged them to remain the light which they were and as well live up to expectations  of motherhood.

He called on them to imbibe the spirit of tolerance, steadfastness, decency, diligence, truthfulness as well as love for one another.

The prelate noted that mothers could stop family problems and social unrest.
‘If mothers can review themselves and understand that they have greater role to play in the family, they will never derail.

Bishop Ezeokafor exhorted them to work harder and ensure that peace, progress and oneness reigned supreme in their various families. He noted that only way out of social unrest and family quagmire in the world was for the mothers to take their family role seriously and also guide and channel the attention of their wards towards God's teachings.

He expressed the hope that if mothers could continue to take responsibilities of transforming the family the world would be a better living place and wished them a happy celebration.

Meanwhile the Awka Diocesan Life Members have made a cash donation of N50,000 for the development of Peter University in Aguata LGA during a courtesy call in the bishop’s office.

Speaking after the donation the diocesan president Lady Virgy Okoli said their visit was to celebrate with the bishop and other priests and religious at the cathedral, noting that they were also their children, especially in the mothering Sunday period.

She reiterated the association’s commitment in propagating and projecting the university, adding that their gesture would be an annual one. In their speeches the secretary of the group Lady Rose Onyedibe and the treasurer Lady Stella Njaka asked for God’s continued blessings on the bishop whom they described as a loving father.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of cash and gift items to the bishop and other priests and religious at the cathedral.

It will be recalled that the group made a similar donation during last year’s Easter visit to the bishop.
