As the clamour for
zoning of speakership of the Anambra State House of Assembly to the southern
senatorial district gathers momentum, the Member representing Aguata =1 State
Constituency,Hon Dr Ikechukwu Umeh, has called on those clamouring for such
zoning arrangement in this new political dispensation to soft pedal.
Hon Umeh who was
speaking with National Vision at Nsugbe Community during a social event, stated
that the lawmakers have no problem with zoning of key political offices in this
new dispensation led by Governor Obiano.
''The truth is that in
the House of Assembly we are united.I don't know why people from outside are
trying to thwart what we are having in the House.I am from the south,we are not
agitating for anything at least for this session''
The Legislator told our
correspondent that the issue of zoning the speakership of the State Assembly
should be left for the next session of the House to decide after 2015 general
elections.
''When the new House
members come next year, then we will start shifting things.Let us leave the
House as it is.We are okay with it,so people from outside should not come
inside and agitate for us''
He further declared the
unflinching loyalty and support of the lawmakers to the Princess Chinwe
Nwaebili led House of Assembly in the state, adding that she had proved to be
capable of leading the Legislature.
''We are still okay with
our speaker. Our speaker is doing fine,at least she is the backbone that is
holding the whole House together. So we are still very happy with her.So she
should continue, after the election which is only one year away,we change
positions.''
He described Senator
Alphonsus Igbeke, the Chief Celebrant in the social event at Nsugbe,as a man of
substance who has done much to uplift humanity and wished him many more years.
