Anambra State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and
its executive members are at daggers drawn over alleged fraud of N445 million
belonging to the party.
Bubble may have burst following an arrangement to reshuffle the
state Executive of the party which will see all the executive members eased out
but the Chairman Emekayi as means of restoring peace to the party.
Vice Chairman of the party in Anambra, Sir Amaechi Onowu alleged
that the sum of N445 million given to the party through Emeakayi the chairman
was never accounted for alleging that the funds were misappropriated.
Onowu who spoke on behalf of other executive members described the
plan as contemptuous of the Ihala High Court judgment by Hon. Justice FC Nwizu
which ruled that their tenure would expire on October, 2014.
He alleged that before the conduct of the Local government
election in Anambra State, the sum of N90 Million was provided for the
chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party which did not get to
them.
He further said only five local government chairmanship
candidates and three councillorship candidates acknowledged receipt of
the money demanding to know what happened to the others?
He said ,‘’ during the November 16th 2013
governorship election ,the sum of N300millon was made available to Kenneth
Emeakayi and he did not make use of the money , We also aware that one of the
great Stakeholders of PDP Chief Arthur Eze gave him N30millon for our
candidate Tony Nwoye and he did nothing with the money. We also know about the
sum of N5million that was given to party executive by Arthur Eze when we
attended the OFALA festival of Traditional Ruler of Ukpo in December 2013 that
he could not account for.
‘’it is important to note that the name of the State treasurer Mr
Chukwudi Okasi was removed from the account ownership of the
party hence all withdrawals by the party did not take recourse to his office.
‘’The sum of N150 Million that our former Chairman Emma Nweze allegedly
misappropriated along with Chief Olisa-Metuh which Emekayi said he would
recover have been seen and we have it on good authority that the trio of
Emeakyi ,Metuh and Nweze allegedly made away with the money. If not so what
happened to it. That goes to show that the man they want to retain as State
Chairman is a monumental fraud’’ he added.
’this is the antics of the metropolitan Abuja Politicians from
Anambra State who have chosen to deepen the crisis in the area. These people
who cannot even win a vote in their polling units will sit in Abuja and decide
who and who will be in the State executive of our party. These people do not
have respect for our founding fathers like former Vice President Dr Alex
Ekwueme, Senator Onyeabor Obi and others.
‘’In the light of the above, we in Anambra PDP are pleading with
our new National Chairman Alhaji Adamu Mua-zu to allow justice to stand because
we have court judgments which made it clear that we have a tenure of four years
which would expire in October this year.
‘’So it is contemptuous of the Ihiala High Court Judgment for the
NWC to stop our tenure and to impose fresh names as members of the Anambra
State PDP executive .This has always been the sickness of the party in our
State and some people who want to claim tin gods have resolved to fight for
their own interest without channeling the interest of the entire family.
Reacting of the allegation, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi said that
Onowu is not a member of the state executive, and that Onowu was a member of
the party’s caretaker committee which was led by Chief Emma Nweze.
Emeakayi further contended that “I cannot be reacting to an
allegation from somebody who is not a member of the executive of the PDP in
Anambra state. He was a member of the caretaker committee of the party during
Emma Nweze executive.
“If they claim that I embezzled party money they should come up
and invite me if they actually have such powers to do so. Until then I will not
comment further on the matter because there is no name like Onowu as a member
of the executive of the PDP in Anambra”.
