Governor Peter Obi has presented three brand new vehicles to the
Nigerian Prisons Service. Governor Obi who donated the vehicles at the
Governor’s Lodge also gave the establishment two brand new power generators.
The vehicles include two eighteen seater buses
and a pick up utility vehicle.
Governor
Obi who thanked officials of the Nigerian Prisons for the contributions
towards the present efforts to rebuild the State, said the gesture was in line
with the policy of his administration to assist all State and Federal agencies
operating in the State to perform effectively and efficiently.
Responding, the State Comptroller of Prisons,
Mr. Collumbus Omenuko while thanking the Governor for his generosity, said the
intervention would enhance regular transportation of prisoners to Court. He
said the intervention would further promote criminal justice
administration.
Also speaking, the Deputy Comptroller of Prisons
in-charge of Awka Prisons, Mr. Emmanuel Oguejiofor said the Governor had
demonstrated passion for the less privilege by giving prisoners a sense of
belonging. He noted that the vehicles provided effective leverage for
quick dispensation of justice.
