Anambra set for 2018 Under-15 National Youth Games as over 100 participants depart to Ilorin, Kwara State

www.odogwublog.com reports that Anambra State is set for Ilorin, Kwara State for the 2018 Under-15 National Youth Games as over one hundred children yesterday departed the state for the games.
The children will compete in fourteen different sports areas including handball, judo, athletics, chess, football, boxing, kung-fu, scrabble, table tennis, as well as weightlifting for the physically impaired.

The team with moral and logistical supports from the state government is in high spirits for the games which begin today and will end on the 17th of this month.


While explaining their preparation for the game the Managing Director and Chairman, Anambra Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony Oli, said the team has undergone intensive training and development during its week-long camping and is poised to return victorious.

The Sports Chairman noted that the team has been provided with all necessary logistics including extra bus in case of emergency, an escort ambulance, team of doctors, and a spiritual leader and commended the state government for lending full support to the team.

The State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Sunday Ajayi, was also on hand to remind the drivers of the buses of their obligations to good driving, as the life especially that of the children remained paramount, urging them to maintain best driving standards on the road.

Some of the players, Ikem Mary-Rose who is competing in chess, and Daniel Orji, who is competing in handball, spoke of their preparedness and determination to go for the gold.
