Group seeks support for Family Planning Campaign


Anambra state Advocacy Core Group, ASACG is calling on stakeholders and the general public to support campaign for family planning.

The State Family planning Coordinator, Ministry of Health , Mrs Stella Ekweozo, said that family planning is the most effective way of reducing maternal and infant mortality.
She urged families to take advantage of the free and safe family planning service from the various State facilities.
 She spoke during a six day programme organized by ASACG in Awka which ended at Nawfija.

She called for increased access and utilization of the process to improve infant and maternal health and raise the indices of family planning.

Also speaking, the State Programme Coordinator of The Challenge Institute, TCI, and facilitator of the programme , Mr. Aneotah Egbe, said that the group is set to promote and enhance the welfare of the people and community issues surrounding family planning, adding that they were on a mission to help bring solutions to challenges affecting individuals in the State.

He called on privileged individuals to help in actualizing effective policy implementation by mobilizing resources to bring about enhanced service delivery that will reduce mortality ratio of women and improve family planning practice .

Addressing mothers at Nawfija, in Orumba South Local Government, the President General, Anambra state Women, Mrs. Tina Igbasi, noted that family planning does not only prevent pregnancy but also helps in fighting sexually transmitted diseases, STDs, such as HIV among others. She advised them to always take distinctive measures such as the use of condoms and cautioned them against the challenge of having numerous children.

On their parts, an Anglican Priest and participant, Reverend Chukwuka Odinaka and the President General of Nawfija women, Mrs. Josephine Okoli, appreciated the group for bringing the knowledge to them, advising participants to adhere to the voice of wisdom for a better tomorrow.
