the Unizik, and leader of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Women Association
(NAUWA) as a Professor.

bakery for the University and done cancer screening among other
innovations and most importantly galvanising women to support and
benefit immensely from the administration of her husband and
Vice-Chancellor of Unizik , Prof. Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, FAS.
Though
the main event was focused on the 4th year anniversary of Prof Joseph
Eberendu Ahaneku FAS, as the 5th substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi

At the thanksgiving
Mass attended by the creme de la creme in the University and the society
by extension, the first reading was taken by the Vice-Chancellor
himself, while the second reading and the sequence was taken by his
wife, Prof. Gladys Ahaneku.
In his remarks, the
Vice Chancellor , Prof Ahaneku said he was delighted at the turnout of
the crowd, amongst whom were the crème de la crème who have come to
thank God with him. He thanked the Bishop for reminding the laity that
we are all in a passing world.
He prayed that
the legacy of the University is preserved, as it would promote the
institution which is aimed at training, reforming; through knowledge and
an enviable pride of Africa and the world at large.
Speaking
about the Igbos, he said that they are hardworking and industrious, and
it depicts the vision of the University, as it is seen in the products
of the institution, even as he thanked the Governor of Anambra State,
Chief Willie Obiano for providing an enabling environment. He equally
promised to make donations towards the building of the church as part of
his gratitude to God, and urged others to join in doing so.
Prof Ahaneku’s legacies in Unizik is a story for another day as space won’t allow us to dwell on it now.
Bishop

need for Christians to be always grateful to the Almighty God at all
times no matter the situation as He knows the best, pointing out that
gratitude to God for His favour is one of the greatest virtues.
He
noted that Prof Ahaneku has done very well to have gathered people from
every sphere of life to show gratitude to God for seeing him through
his four years in office, and asking for His continued directive and
protection, enjoining everyone present to live a life of thanksgiving
and appreciation to God for his benevolence.
In
his speech, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke
expressed the need for those who are given opportunity to lead, to make
effort in leaving legacies behind, adding that the VC has done well in
his administration, as the relationship with the Chinese Government
speaks volume.
Dr. Okeke stated that Education
is the key for development in any society, because that is where the
youths who are the hope of the nation are trained.
