www.odogwublog.com reports that twenty-two
(22) students of senior and junior secondary schools of Omambala area
have received scholarship grants from the president of Onyebuchi Chris
Ifediora (OCI) Foundation, Dr Chris Ifediora, a medical practitioner
based in Australia.
Twelve (12) outstanding
senior secondary school students emerged from the state government owned
schools in Anambra East LGA; while ten outstanding junior secondary
schools students from Community High School, Nsugbe, the hometown of the
donor.
Speaking at
the presentation ceremony at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government
Area, the chairman, Post Primary Schools service commission, Awka, Lady
Joy Ulasi called on wealthy citizens of Anambra state to join hands in
funding education to give our children a brighter future.
Lady
Ulasi commended the donor for taking the bold step to empower and
encourage intelligent students of Anambra East local Government Area of
Anambra and urged the award recipients to work harder as hard work pays.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers of Anambra East Council
Area, Igwe Alex Edozieuno of Mkpu Nando community noted that the Dr
Chris Ifediora has used his wealth to support educational development of
his area and urged other well endowed people of the area to emulate
him.
Also speaking the traditional ruler of
Nsugbe, Igwe victor Ntorka expressed gratitude with the development
which he said will enhance the capacity of the youths of Otuocha zone to
realize their dreams and urged the students to continue striving for
excellence to retain their championship.
Earlier,
the Legal Adviser of the OCI foundation, Barr. Onyechi Ononye who
presented the address of the donor, Dr Chris Ifediora said the Scheme
benefits mainly the Omambala students because the area has been an
academically neglected in the state, adding that the scheme would be
subsequently expanded to reach the three local Government Areas in
Otuocha zone and Anambra state at large.
