Tension in Anambra University (COOU) as Obiano endorses Prof Nwakoby as new COOU Vice Chancellor

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Willie Obiano has endorsed the appointment of Professor Gregory C. Nwakoby as the new Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, aka Anambra State University.

Prof Nwakoby is from Nkwelle Ezunanka in Oyi L.G.A of Anambra State, hometown of popular Catholic Priest , Reverend Father Emmanuel Obimma aka Ebubemounso.

Students were still kicking over the mandatory leave Obiano through Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha granted Prof. Fidelis Okafor, immediate past Vice Chancellor.

Prof Nwakoby is expected to resume as Vice Chancellor of the institution on 11th March, 2018.

He is a Professor in faculty of Law , Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik Awka, and a former deputy vice chancellor of the institution.

www.odogwublog.com reports that Prof. Nwakoby was said to have emerged the VC of Nnamdi Azikiwe University March 26, 2014 before being dumped by the institution's governing council for Prof. Joseph Ahaneku from Mbaisi, Imo state.

 When he was dumped, he accused the governing council of bribery which they refuted in an official statement, noting that Nwakoby won in the "interview segment" while Ahaneku won through "shortlisting".

Already , hundreds of people who abandoned him when he contested and lost to Ahaneku have all returned to cheer him and suggest all manner of things to him but he should be wary of fair weather friends as they would abandon him any moment the table turns again. He should be fair and firm , carrying everybody along irrespective of their religion (Church) because soon religious politics would assume larger than life attitude.

But now , he has been appointed a VC against kicking by students and staff of COOU but the onus lies on him to prove to the world, the magic wand he has by his performance in COOU. No excuses!

The students union were protesting and appealing to Obiano to allow Okafor continue as VC but that is over now.......
