www.odogwublog.com reports that the remains of late Venerable Dr. Ernest Chukwudi Ezumezu, the Anglican Clergyman who collapsed and died in Nnewi after sermon at a wedding ceremony has been committed to mother earth at the Holy Trinity Church, Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Late Venerable Dr. Ernest Chukwudi Ezumezu, aged fifty five, till his death on November twenty-four, two thousand and seventeen, (24th November, 2017) was the Vicar of Saint John’s Church, Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area. He was buried recently.
In a sermon during the burial service, the Bishop of Ogbaru Missionary Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, who dwelt on grief and celebration, said whenever a relation dies, grief and sorrow fill the heart but the case of late Venerable Dr. Ezumezu is different because he answered a glorious call, hence the celebration of his life.
Right Reverend Ezeofor called on all to be prepared as no one knows when the Lord shall come.
He described the deceased as a charismatic preacher, teacher, a revivalist, pastor and a seasoned counselor and prayed God to give his soul eternal repose.
In a tribute , the traditional ruler of Osina, Ideato-North Local Government area of Imo State, Ezeh Ben Igwilo, who described Venerable Ezumezu as a giant soldier whose flair for mission and evangelism brought to Osina for an inter-denominational community crusade, said his exit has created a big vacuum that will be hard to replace.
The President-General of Abatete Development Organization, Chief Sir Moses Chukwuka, lamented the passing away of their son and brother late venerable Ezemezu who, he said, contributed so much to the progress and development of the community.
A contemporary of the deceased, Venerable Chukwuka Egwuenu of Nnewi Diocese described him as a great man of God, an Evangelist per excellent, whose good works on earth has attracted for him a peaceful transition and the heavenly throne .
While thanking God and all who shared in their grief, the first son of the deceased, Reverend Tochukwu Ezumezu, said his father lived a Christian life filled with passion for others, running the race of salvation and soul winning, promising to uphold his legacies.
Bishop Johnson Ekwe of the Niger West offered prayers for God’s guidance, protection and direction for the family of the deceased while exhortation and interment was performed by the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Right Reverend Professor Godwin Okpala.
The service which was presided over by the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo, attracted Bishops from within and outside the state, Priests from sister Churches, the academia, among others. Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor of Amichi Diocese, his Ofemili counter-part Right Reverend Henry Okeke, and Bishop Paul Udeogu of Afikpo Dioceses as well as Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi were among those who attended the burial service.
