British Spring College, Awka annual Inter-house sports competition lauded by Dr Mrs Uju Nworgu, Anambra Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development





www.odogwublog.com reports that British Spring College, Awka weekend held its sixth edition of the annual inter-house sports competition with commendation from Anambra state Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Dr Mrs Uju Nworgu.
Nworgu said the State Government is ready to partner private individuals and institutions to harness new talents and sustain the present efforts geared towards ensuring that the state remains on top in the sports sector in the country.
The Sports Commissioner represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mr. Joseph Ogbudu, commended the College for organizing such events, saying it will help to develop the sports sector and give the children the opportunity to reach their full potentials.
Dr Mrs. Nworgu said the Ministry is engaging in a robust effort to partner both private and public schools to identify and groom new talents early enough.




The Group School Administrator of the College, Mr. Vincent Nkama said the competition was to fully achieve the School's aim of training a total child whose psycomotive and cognitive abilities are developed to face the challenges of the society.

Earlier, the Chairman on the Occasion, Mr. Odili Ujubuonu and a parent who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Donor Agencies, Mrs Nneka Onwudiwe, emphasized that such events help children grow, properly, their positive values towards competition and their love for others as such extracurricular activities help them build more tolerance in victory or in failure.

The Competition featured different events such as one hundred meters, two hundred meters, four hundred meters, four by hundred meters relay, sack race, long jump, discus throw and many others, for male and female categories, including royal parade.

Herbert Macaulay or the Green house scored three hundred and thirty points to emerge the overall best after beating other three Houses: Nnamdi Azikiwe, Lord Lugard and Mary Slessor.
Master Chikeora Mba, who emerged victorious at the Four hundred Meters race and Master Fortune Nwokoye, one of the best footballers in the School, expressed joy for participating in the competition and urged the government to also look in the direction of students from private schools in their search for emerging talents.
