www.odogwublog.com reports that the first automated Abia shoe factory will be inaugurated before May this year, according to the State Government.
Governor
Okezie Ikpeazu who disclosed this at a reception organized for the
first batch of 30 trainees of the Abia- China automated shoe training
programme at the Abia Lodge, Aba, said Abia would soon become the
industrial hub of Africa.
He
said that the trainees would form the nucleus of the Abia shoe factory
"on whose shoulders will rest the responsibility of training others."
Ikpeazu thanked them for doing the state proud and for returning home after the training.
“The new shoe economy of Abia state and Africa now rests on your shoulders”, he said.
According
to him, the remaining youths out of the 100 proposed for the training
will be sent to China after the completing the construction of the Abia
shoe factory.
Dr Ikpeazu used the forum to advise Nigerians to turn their huge population to advantage just like China.
He commended the coordinators of the programme, Mr Sam Hart and Mr Chinenye Nwogu for their initiative and commitment.
In
his admonition, the former state chairman of the Christian Association
of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Goddy Okeafor enjoined the trainees to put God
first in all they do, pursue excellence and integrity and appreciated
the Governor for re positioning the state for the better.
Responding
on behalf of others, two of the trainees, Mrs Nancy Anyatonwu and Mr
Earnest Ifeanyi described the training as a huge success as they have
acquired a lot of knowledge and appealed to the Governor to acquire
automated shoe machines as it will enhance the economy of the state.
