www.odogwublog.com reports that the
immediate - past Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has
revealed that members of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Zamfara
State were flogged for not voting for President Muhammadu Buhari of the
All Progressive Congress ( APC) in 2015.
Lamido
who made the revelation during a visit to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia
State yesterday in Umuahia, said that as soon as Buhari was announced
the winner of the 2015 presidential poll, members of APC in Zamfara
State started moving from house to house to drag out PDP members and
flog them.
The former
Governor who accused APC of using intimidation to muzzle up the
opposition said Nigeria's democracy " is under threat" by APC's
dictatorial tendencies.
He said Nigerians " are now too afraid to express their views " for fear of persecution by the ruling national party.
Lamido
decried the level of witch- hunting and persecution against members of
the opposition by the APC, a development he warned posed serious threat
to Nigeria's democracy if unchecked.
He urged Nigerians to mobilise and vote out APC in 2019 and end its oppressive rule and maladministration.
Lamido
noted with regret that " more than ever, Nigeria is currently divided"
along ethnic and religious lines under the watch of APC, which he said "
is ill- prepared to govern".
The
former Governor said PDP had learnt its mistakes which led to its
misfortunes in 2015, and " is now poised to offer a better choice to
Nigeria come 2019".
