Breaking News: Anambra monarchs to honour Gov. Obiano for exemplary performance

www.odogwublog.com reports that Monarchs of Anambra central senatorial zone, on Tuesday, revealed that they would be honouring Gov. Willie Obiano with a chieftaincy title for his exemplary performance in office after three years.

The Chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chukwuemeka Ilouno, revealed this in a joint press briefing with six other monarchs representing the seven local government areas of the zone.

The monarchs noted that the conferment of the chieftaincy title is in recognition of his performance in the state; adding: ``The performance is sterling and beyond expectations’’.

They noted that Gov. Obiano will be bestowed a chieftaincy title on June 16 at the Ifitedunu Ofala Arena in Ifitedunu Community within Dunukofia LGA of the state.

The monarchs, however, did not disclose the name of the chieftaincy title; adding: ``It will be revealed to all on the D-day’’.

The monarchs said that Obiano had performed well in security, infrastructure, agriculture, economic growth and empowerment as well as prompt payment of workers’ salaries and development of the rural communities.

``We have never witnessed such before, and we think it is noteworthy that we confer a chieftaincy title on him to recognise his good works.

``Former Governor, Peter Obi, promised us he would give us a hardworking governor, and with what we have seen with Obiano, we are not in doubt that Obi did as he promised, because Obiano has over shoot our expectations.

``Anambra has been blessed with achievement-oriented governors, from Peter Obi to Willie Obiano and we are happy with them.

``Today, our governor is commonly called alert governor due to his prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensions," they said.

The monarchs revealed that the N20 million the governor gave to each of the 181 communities in the state to finance project of choice had helped to improve various communities with roads, markets, schools, healthcare etc.

``We also learnt that he would be giving another N20 million soon to further boost development at the communities’ level. What a grassroots and far reaching administration,’’ they said.

The monarchs promised to make the day a colourful one with masquerades and dance groups that would make it memorable for those who attend.

They said that each of the 56 communities within the senatorial zone would be sending 100 representatives at the chieftaincy occasion; adding that they are expecting over 5,000 guest on the D-day.

``All illustrious sons and daughters of note would be invited to the event as well as friends of Anambra State and its well-wishers as well.

``Our state’s first lady is not forgetting. Mama Anambra will be bestowed alongside her husband, for working hard and standing by our amicable governor to get to this enviable height,’’ they said.
