Obiano presents N115.5b budget proposal to State Assembly, includes Peter Obi’s projects

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, yesterday, presented 2017 budget proposal of N115.5 billion to the Anambra state House of Assembly.
Of this amount, the state expects to spend N56.6billion on Recurrent Expenditure and N58.9billion of Capital Expenditure.
Breakdown of the budget shows that N24 billion will be expended on road construction and rehabilitation; which, according to the governor, will focus on the completion of ongoing road contracts awarded by the last and current administration in line with the current government continuity promise.
Education will gulf N3.4 billion, youth empowerment and social investment N1.6b; Agriculture, N5.4b, etc.
Tagged "budget for economic recovery and inclusive growth", Obiano said that the 2017 budget lays emphasis on prioritization as a creative means of ensuring impact and effectiveness in a recessional economy; adding that the budget will essentially driven by innovation and Anambra peoples well known ability to rise above adversity and expand the boundaries of human prosperity.
The speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu, commended the executive arm for implementing the 2016 budget to a commendable extent and said that the House would give the budget a speedy approval.
"We at the State House of Assembly will sacrifice our 2016 holiday to ensure that the budget the 2017budget proposal is given accelerated passage. We are doing this believing that the state government will do better Justice to the 2017budget.
"I will urge ministries, parastatals and government agencies to be ready for their budget defence", she said.
Shortly after the Budget presentation, the Secretary to the Anambra state Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu at a press conference on the presented Budget assured that the budget will be fully implemented by the Obiano administration.
Prof Chukwulobelu said the Ministries would honour all the invitations by the state House of Assembly to defend the budget presented even as the newly passed into law Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra state codenamed OCHA Brigade and Anambra state Traffic Agency (ASTA) got budgeted with over N3 Billion .
