JTF to ensure surveilance of pipelines in Niger Delta

The commander of operation Delta safe, Real Admiral Apochi Suleiman, has warned those responsible for the surveillance of pipelines of oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta to be proactive in carrying out their tasks.

This is as troops recovered two Cotonou boats filled with crude oil and three speedboats, each carrying 9,200 liters of drums with illegally refined products. The troop also destroyed a resuscitated illegal refinery at Opumami, Ugbokoko and Ubofo Creeks in Warri south Local Government Area of Delta state.

In a press release signed by the coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Center, Lieutenant Olaolu Daudu Suleiman was quoted to have expressed anger on the lingering pipeline vandalism in the area, while assuring that the Joint Task Force[JFT] will henceforth ensure surveillance of pipelines in the region.

He reiterated that pipeline surveillance contractors would be held responsible for any breach of pipelines in their area of responsibility. He however warned oil companies to monitor and repair any pipeline considered obsolete, adding that the mandate of operation Delta safe is basically centered on the protection of oil and gas installations to prevent criminalities among others.
