IPAC disowns Chairman, appoints Acting Chairman ---Gives Obiano 3 Months to conduct election into local government

www.odogwublog.com reports exclusively that the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) yesterday mandated the Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano to conduct the local government elections into the Twenty one (21) Council areas of the state within three (3) months or face them in the court.

Rising from its General meeting in Awka, IPAC insisted that the state Government should reconstitute the Anambra state Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) so as to give the commission the necessary constitutional requirements to commence with immediate effect all procedures for the conduct of the long awaited Anambra state local government elections.

In a Communiqué signed by no fewer than 18 members and read by All Progressives Congress ( APC) state chairman , Emeka Denison Ibe, a lawyer appealed that funds be made available through supplementary budget for the conduct of the local government election in Anambra state , since there was no such provision made in the 2017 budget.

IPAC as well informed that non conduct of local government election has destroyed the local government system in the state.

‘’The non seriousness of the Government of Chief Willie Obiano was shown in the 2017 Appropriation Bill  presented to the Anambra state House of Assembly where no budgetary provision was made for the Anambra state local government election.

‘’Therefore, in the effect that the government of Anambra state refuses to take necessary steps toward the conduct of the local government election ; political parties in the state will be left with no other option than to employ all necessary legal actions against the government of Anambra state to compel the government to do the needful.
‘’Political parties in Anambra state which are the major stakeholders in the Anambra political business cannot continue to keep silent while our state government continues to violet the laws of the land with impunity.

‘’In the event of the negligence of this important demand by the Anambra state government , we shall appeal to the national Assembly and the Federal government of Nigeria to stop the release of all Federal allocations meant for Anambra state local governments pending when a duly elected local government executives that will be responsive to those that elect them are democratically elected’’.

The political parties applauded President Mohammadu Buhari for his uncompromising was against corruption in every sphere and appealed to him to beam his search light on some state Governors who divert local government funds to the detriment of suffering masses at the grassroots.

IPAC announced that it has disowned its former Chairman and Chairman of All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Norbert Obi as he was not allowed to participate in the IPAC National Executive conference at Jos, Plateau state, December 7th, 2016. He was barred also from parading himself as IPAC Chairman Anambra state.

IPAC said Obiano hosted few members of IPAC who voted for APGA candidate during IPAC election which is divisive as it negates the principal of magnanimity in victory.
The communiqué was copied to Obiano, President Buhari, Speaker of House of Representatives and Speaker Anambra state among others. It was signed by Comrade Luke Ezeanokwasa of Labour party; Hon Oby Kate Okafor of ACD; Hon Okechukwu Okpala of UDP ; Hon Prince Ike Nnubia of AGA ; Ejike Oguebego of PDP ; Hon Prince Isaac Onwuka of PDC ; Nelson  Nebolisa Uzoegbo , a lawyer of  PDM ; Comrade Aaron Igweze of AD ; Hon Kenneth Okafor of PPP among others.
