Court dismisses PDP's case against Benue lawmaker

The Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi has dismissed the case against the member representing Obi state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Nick Eworo, brought against him by the Peoples Democratic Party[PDP] in Obi Local Government, challenging his defection to the All Progressive Congress[APC].

When the case came up in Makurdi, the presiding judge, Justice Dikko Umar, dismissed it for lack of merit. Justice Dikko said continuing with the matter would amount to an effort in futility and wasting the time of the court.

It would be recalled that early this year,Hon. Eworo decamped from the PDP to the ruling APC, which brought arguments that led to his suspension. Reacting to the decision of the court, the defendant and deputy majority leader of the assembly, Mr. Eworo, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the court in allowing the rule of law to prevail.

He however appealed to his constituents to remain strong and supportive of his determination to bring development to the area. The legislator advised the people to see the development of the area as paramount and always do things that would alleviate the sufferings of the people.
